How do you install car speakers
I made a list of my own personal tools that I use on almost every car audio install I preform. If you would rather use the speaker wire provided in the box with your speakers you will have to find a wiring diagram for your vehicle in in order to determine which wire is negative and which wire is positive on the harness you have disconnected from your old speaker.
If you have already found out which wire is neg and which wire is pos you can cut the harness off and strip the bare wire, after the wire is stripped you will then connect the speaker wire that came with your new speakers onto the corresponding factory wire.
Now connect the wiring to the speaker by pushing the bigger terminal of the wire harness on the bigger terminal on the new speaker and the smaller wire terminal from the harness onto the smaller terminal on the speaker. Now you can mount your new speaker onto the door where the old speaker was previously mounted.
Some speakers are hidden in odd places so be ready to look in hard-to-reach spots too. Unscrew and remove the old speaker. Keep track of where the screws go as you work so you can put them back in later. When replacing the speaker, make sure you connect the wires correctly. If you do add tape, it will make it difficult to open up the speaker assembly in the future.
Before installing the speaker, connect the battery and test the sound. Re-installing a speaker is a hassle and more expensive than you think. Test it out first to avoid any problems. The speaker is ready for a test. Disconnect the battery again and put everything back together, including the speaker cover or trim pieces you removed. If you want more bass, an amplifier may be necessary. The first step is to remove the center cup holder.
This is done by pulling on the front of the cup holder and then sliding it towards the passenger seat. The next step is to remove the two screws that hold down the dashboard. These are located on either side of the dashboard, near where it meets with your windshield.
Once these screws are removed you can carefully pull up on your dash exposing more of these screw holes, which will allow you to detach your dashboard from your car body. The bottom line is that installing speakers in your car is a good idea. Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment. But yes it will change the crossover frequency somewhat. Hi Marty, I have a Jaguar XKR with the Bowers and Wilkins premium sound system which has left and right full range, subwoofer and centre full range for surround sound.
The doors have midrange speakers with separate tweeters in the A pillar with an inline filter. Should I try changing to better component speakers with a crossover in each door, or a dual cone midrange and disconnect the factory tweeters? Hi Chris. I would try replacing the door speakers with a better quality one and see what you think. If the pillar tweeters are still overpowering you might consider using some resistors to drop their volume.
