Can rename folders in vista
I did try this and it did not work. I am using a work computer for which I have user administrative privileges, if that makes a differrence. BUT, I wasn't trying to do anything complicated --just rename a folder --one that I created myself a few months ago! For example, on my desktop i created a folder called "Jim and Jan Files. Jan left the group.
So, I wanted to rename the folder just "Jim Files. I just can't think of a logical reason for this to happen. Is it a Vista issue? I finally just created a new folder with the name I wanted and copied all the files from the other folder into it.
It would still be nice to know why this happened, though, if you have any suggestions. In reply to Boorad99's post on January 23, I've seem this problem several times an taking ownership and changing permissions has always worked to resolve it but I have to admit I don't know why it happens in the first place.
I don't know why the solution isn't working in your case - but I'm glad to see you found a workaround even if it doesn't resolve the underlying problem. Sorry I can't help you further. Good luck! I Don't know if this helps, I created a folder using a decryption program and copied it to Virtual disk with Daemon Tools.
Once removed I was able to rename the folder.
